AQUA~MOTION
We are proud to introduce to you our newest equipment:
You got the notion? We got the motion! Aqua-motion
That’s right, we are the first clinic in the Tri-Cities to have an underwater treadmill for dogs!
Why?
Because we want to offer the best medicine to your pets. Just like you are benefitting from physical therapy after an injury, so do your dogs. Rehab and physical therapy are increasingly recognized as an important part of whole health care for our pets.
Who?
For the canine athlete and working dog this can be a great way to increase stamina and endurance. For these dogs we call our sessions ‘aqua-robics’.
Then we have the young 2-year old Lab with a knee injury that needs to re-build his muscle mass and recover from surgery or the Dachshund that has an injured back. These dogs recover much faster and can achieve full function due to hydrotherapy.
Mostly: Our geriatric patients! No matter if large or small, purebred or mixed breed – many of them develop arthritis, maybe put on a few too many pounds and now what is their quality of life? With the weight lifted by the water these guys can start to exercise, burn three times more calories than on ‘dry land’ and re-build their muscle tone so they can get out of this vicious circle and start to enjoy their walks again!
So far, we have seen amazing results and are very excited to share this wonderful news. We can honestly say that it has saved a dog’s life that could not walk anymore, and surgery was not an option either. He was first able to take a few steps due to the buoyancy of the water and has now started to walk again on his own even outside the treadmill.
If you are interested give us a ring or ask us during your appointment and see if our Aqua-Motion is for your pet.
We often combine treatments with our class IV cold laser.
